JoanNORMANWe are deeply saddened to announce the death of Joan Norman on 5th September 2025 at the age of 91. A much loved Mother, Nana and Great Nana, Joan passed away peacefully at MHA Torrwood Care Home in Wells.
Her beloved husband of 66 years Malcolm passed away in 2023 and they leave three sons, Paul, Keith and Clive, and their families of six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Until her retirement in 1997 Joan worked as a local government officer for 25 years including for Wansdyke District Council at the Hollies in Midsomer Norton. In retirement she was an active member and committee officer in the Midsomer Norton Townswomen's Guild for a further 25 years and was awarded the National Townswoman of Year in 2009 and was honoured to attend a Royal garden party at Buckingham Palace.
The whole family give their heartfelt thanks to the staff at MHA Torrwood for the love, care and support they gave to Joan during her time with them.
The funeral service will be on 10th October 2025 at 11:30am at St. John's Parish Church in Midsomer Norton. Family flowers only please and any donations would be welcome to go to the local charity Swallow via funeral directors Bryan G Bishop of Paulton. This was a cause close to her heart.
