Vera ElizabethNICHOLASBeloved Mum, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister & Auntie. Vera, passed away surrounded by her loving family at the BRI hospital, following a brief illness at the age of 88. Vera was born on the 20th September 1934 to parents Evelyn & John Radnedge. At the age of 3, Vera's family relocated from Lawrence Hill to Knowle West. Her home on Padstow Road held a special place in her heart as it was where she spent the majority of her life; holding fond childhood memories of growing up with her parents and siblings Joan, Raymond & John, to raising her daughter, Tracy and later living happily with her late husband. It was evident Vera was very proud to be from Knowle West as she often told stories of its tight-knit community whilst growing up. It was here that Vera created an impressive 85 year friendship with her childhood neighbour, Joan. In 1980, Vera married the love of her life Neville Nicholas at Knowle Methodist Church. She was introduced to him by his sister, Eileen, who she worked with at Mardon Son & Hall. They became proud grandparents several years later to Andrew, followed by Amelia, Naomi & Lucy. Then great-grandparents to Luis and Alfie, whom they adored. Vera's grandchildren claim her to be the most thoughtful person whom always made them feel incredibly safe & deeply loved. She was a strong and highly independent woman who will always remain a role model to them. During the summer of 2012, Vera became widowed after Neville passed away with her by his side. She greatly missed him for the remainder of her life but remained active by attending many clubs and having many day trips and weekends away. Vera's daughter, Tracy remembers her as a caring, loving, supportive Mum & friend who was always there for her, as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members & her many friends. She will be fondly remembered, greatly missed & in our hearts forever. A service to celebrate Vera's life will be held on Monday 4th September (12.45pm) at South Bristol Crematorium. Family flowers only. A donation box will be available & shared amongst Blind Veterans UK & The Memorial Fund For Primate Welfare & Conservation, charities close to Vera's heart.
