So sorry to hear this sad news. Louie was a gentleman. Always funny, caring and cheerful, despite his significant health challenges. Thinking of Maggie and his family xx

I moved to Bridge of Weir in 1971. For my sins I ended up going to this lovely place called Linwood High. It’s here that I met Lewis we became friends. When I got my motorbike. I was a frequent visitor to the farm. Lewis used to tease me that I wasn’t there to see him. There was a group of us who rode bikes back then. Often out together. Fox & Hounds or the Crosslee Inn. I lost touch with Lewis in 1978 when I went and joined the Army (No Facebook or mobile phones) prehistoric times we lived in then. Got back in touch through modern technology my visits to Scotland were always too short to see everyone. Ride free my friend. We will travel the road together again someday

Hi I’m Looey’s much younger sister ( 2 years is much younger right?) We joked about it over the years
Obviously I’ve many stories, memories I could write about but here I roll back the years I was about 16ish and my first time on one of his motorbikes on any motorbike for that matter
He tells me “sit straight, wrap arms about my waist and hold on” ok seems straight forward enough right?
We rattle down the very uneven farm road onto the main road, then he pulls onto the main road heading to Houston, anyone that knows that road knows it’s full of twists and turns both directions. I’m thinking yeahhh this exciting and scary then he comes to the first deep bend and that’s when it goes wrong… we get around the corner him leaning into it, me trying to straighten up, he told me to sit straight remember? Welll he stopped the bike and gave me a right earful, don’t go against the bike!!! he says what you trying to do!!! I replied “I was trying to stay straight like you told me to!! He looked really angry ( scary Looey) then he must have realised I just didn’t know so he explained be part of the bike, feel the bike… trust me and trust your instincts … ehh right bro, by this time being a typical 16 yr old that thinks they know everything I say I’m not in control of the bike you are how can I feel the bike ( I really tested his patience lol) surprised he didn’t just ride off and leave me lol he took me on a long ride that day and eventually I had a light bulb moment and got it! Years after that when I was a pillion passenger on someone else’s bike they commented that they hardly knew I was there I looked at them and said “ my brother taught me well “
Looey I’ll miss our banter even in the face of tough moments in our lives you were inspirational in the way you adapted and applied no matter what life threw at you, but I know you’ll still kick my ass if I forget to trust my instincts Ride High much older bro! Xxx
