The family of the late William George Johnson, lovingly known as George, sadly announce his peaceful passing on 26th September 2025, aged 93 years.
George proudly served in the police force for 33 years, retiring as Chief Inspector, a career that reflected his dedication, integrity, and lifelong commitment to serving others.
He met his beloved wife Maureen as childhood sweethearts, and together they shared an incredible 69 years of love, laughter, and devotion.
Their life together was blessed with five children, Lynne, Mark, Chris, Adrian and Paula, who made both George and Maureen immensely proud as they went on to become grandparents to 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A true family man, George's happiest moments were spent surrounded by those he loved most. He adored a busy home filled with warmth, laughter and the sounds of children, often singing nursery rhymes and creating precious memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
George's final farewell journey will take place on Thursday 23rd October 2025 at 12:00pm at Springwood Crematorium, Springwood Avenue, L25 7UN.
The family have asked for family flowers only please, but donations in memory of George are kindly welcomed for Little Hearts Matter and Prostate Cancer UK.
