Ray I knew when I lived on Brown Edge ,we went up to Farm to help in the summer, Tom was there too,and I remember being scared when Ray took us on top field and tractor was nearly tipping over .
A great guy who made my time growing up there a happy time
Rest in peace Ray .

Ray was a one-off. We went to St Anne’s C of E School together and he introduced me to Dave Davenport. We made each other laugh and the three of us became inseparable. We rode our bikes everywhere, Biddulph and Biddulph Moor were favourites and we had great fun in all weathers.

After my family moved to Torquay I lost contact with Ray until one day many years later there was a knock on the door and there stood Ray with Eileen. He had tracked us down.
Ray and Eileen often came down to Torquay and we enjoyed taking them to our favourite places. Ray loved the sea.

The last time I spoke to Ray on the phone, the first thing he said was “We had a lot of fun, didn’t we Robert? We certainly did.
A great friend.
