Thank you, Joan —
for all the happy times we shared, sat on your patio in the sunshine.
We giggled at Honey’s little antics,
and we put the world to rights, one cup of tea at a time.

We laughed at anything and everything —
the sort of laughter that comes easily between friends who truly enjoy each other’s company.
Every visit to you became a happy event,
a moment to pause, to feel welcome, to feel that warmth you always brought with you.

Somehow, the sun will seem a little less bright now —
but that light, your light, will stay with us.
In every shared laugh, every sunny day, and every memory of your kindness,
you’ll always be there — smiling, and making the world feel that bit more joyful.

Thank you, Joan. You made life brighter.

I have treasured memories of Joan for pretty much all my life as a neighbour, friend, infant school teacher and also as one of the few people who liked cutting lawns. The friendship, kindness and practical help she gave freely to me and my Mum when my Dad died were beyond value in helping us cope and she will never know how eternally grateful I was at the time and always will be.Although it's sad for those of us who miss her I hope she is at peace with those she loved and that she gets to see the occasional John Wayne film.
