I was extremely sad to learn of Barrie's death. He always seemed so full of life and had a great sense of humour. I worked with Barrie for 10 years as fellow parish councillors and got to know him pretty well. He was an exceptional councillor, who always wanted to improve things for the village and he was excellent at "getting things done" and "making it happen". He was a man of the highest integrity and was someone you could always rely on. He will be greatly missed.

Barrie and I shared a keen interest in motorcycling which went through our teens into later life. We both started on Triumph Tiger Cub motorcycles and toured most of the country lanes around Buckinghamshire, Surrey and Middlesex. I was once riding pillion on the back of Barrie’s down the Uxbridge Road towards the Long Lane junction which was at Red. I relaxed my grip on the carrier when the lights went red/amber and Barrie dropped a gear and flew. I went backwards onto the carrier and all Barrie could see was my boots hovering around his ears. We managed to pull up at Lees Road lights and, with the braking momentum, got myself sitting upright with Barrie in hysterics. I often wonder if we did that today it would qualify for some barmy Guinness World Record. Barrie loved motorcycle touring and owned some great bikes. God bless you Barrie for some amazing memories over the years. Full Sutton aerodrome flying and Spetses moped safaris. Love to you Lynn and the family for being there for him

I had the pleasure of being Barrie’s business partner and friend for many years. What a character! We shared many beers together steering us through our personal and business journeys and I will remember him with gratitude and joy. A life well lived. My condolences to his family. Phil Richards.
